LITTLE BEGINNINGS...
After the birth of our son Jackson in 2007 I began to realize that there just wasn’t a good selection of trendy kids clothing in Canada and that shopping at the big box stores was leaving me with the feeling of monotony and ‘you get what you pay for’. I started doing a lot of online shopping, mostly in the US, to find cool clothes and accessories that were good quality but that would make our little guy unique and reflect his enthusiastic and playful personality. (I thought dressing him like his dad was pretty cute too)
I soon began to realize that there were a lot of great companies and really cool clothes out there and that I didn’t have to sacrifice style when shopping for my little one. Unfortunately, the shipping and duty charges from the US we’re making it almost impossible for me to justify the purchases and I just couldn’t find any Canadian sites that I felt had the right mix of cool and trendy clothes and accessories. Then it hit me - why not open a store so everyone can enjoy these great brands and buy from a Canadian retailer to save themselves the hassle of expensive shipping & duty.
The ideas and planning grew over my mat leave year and I returned to work fulltime wondering how I was going to open a store when I barely had enough time to be a mother and a wife at the end of a long work day. After a few months, with the support of my awesome husband and our families, I left my job in sales and marketing to become a full time mom and entrepreneur and LittleAcorn kicked into high gear.
All of the products on our site are hand picked and tested by us and our friends and family. We’re striving to offer you great quality products that are trendy, playful and eco-friendly. We’ve also got some awesome Canadian-made brands that we’re sure you and your little ones will love!
Thanks for taking the time to read about us and we’re looking forward to providing you with the latest and greatest in the world of infant and baby gear.
Sincerely,
Sarah, Jeff & Jackson Acorn
